Despite Sen. Ted Cruz’s marathon speech lasting more than 21 straight hours, the Senate has moved forward on a temporary spending measure, allowing for Senate Democrats to amend the bill and restore funding for Obamacare.
The Senate, led by Majority Leader Harry Reid, will vote on Friday to strip the House bill of any language that defunds Obamacare, while sending a "clean" government funding bill back to the House. In response, House Speaker John Boehner on Thursday signaled a shift in Republican tactics with the focus now on negotiating a compromise on raising the federal debt ceiling next month instead of a short-term spending plan now.
