more people want a healthcare system than don't. 11% of the 56% who oppose Obamacare don't think it goes FAR ENOUGH!!! Boehner is a coward who is afraid of losing his position.

Michell Backman tried over 40 times and failed to repeal Obamacare in this current house this year.

I'm addicted to "Crossfire" on CNN. Sorry that I'm a geek who likes to know what's going on in U.S. politics

I thought ACA had been implemented. Why can't the Republicans accept it and move on?
by PTOWER10/2/2013 10:57:26 PM
Obama is totally for blame!!! I agree with the women on the crossfire tonight!, Obama is supposed to HELP the country and HELP the PEOPLE he is sworn to PROTECT! he has broken so many amendments already and most recent one has to deal with this abomination called the ACA or obamacare or as many americans are now calling it, a death sentence!! LISTEN TO THE PEOPLE!!!
I once thought our government voted and passed laws/bills. I now see this new congress has different rules.....don't let them vote if you think it won't go your way!! Really??????
by Educ8ed thinker10/2/2013 10:58:43 PM
.@SpeakerBoehner : All we're asking for is a discussion and fairness to the American people. #Crossfire
It is not true that the majority of americans dislike the Affordable Care Act! I need actual factual data to believe this...not a pundit's opinion. The exchanges just opened yesterday. Give it time to be fully implemented before you predict its demise. I have studied the ACA; I will benefit from the health coverage. My insurance rates will be much lower and I CAN keep my primary doctor!!
And Everyone I know in Texas believes in this act. We do not believe in anything Ted Cruz spouts! He and his tea party cronies need to do their job!!!! Get back to work and quit bullying the American public!!!!
by christylemon10/2/2013 10:59:43 PM
More than half of the American people have no idea what Obama care really is or how it works. Either way Let congress continue to play this game and unravel all that's been done to get this economy going again. Good job.
by Someone10/2/2013 10:59:50 PM
#crossfire - Thanks Pres Obama - my insurance is using the money i pay them monthly to look after my health instead of their big pockets!!
Great job, @tomperriello , on Crossfire! Thank you for your honesty and reason!
by Andrew Munoz, Jr.via twitter10/2/2013 11:00:27 PM
If the Republicans want to do away with Obamacare, all they have to do is win both houses of Congress and win the Presidency. But about 30 or 40 Tea Party Republicans have their Speaker by the short hairs, so the party has set out to commit political suicide instead.
by CajunBlazer10/2/2013 11:00:36 PM
Most people in this country do not have a clue what is included in the Obamacare Health Plan and they won't until they start applying for it. Ms Miller is not correct when she says the people in this country do not want it. The Americans who do not have insurance want it because they need insurance that is affordable. Small businesses want it because they cannot afford insurance for their employees. The only people who do not want it are those who already have insurance and they are afraid that OC will interfere with what they already have and that does not represent the largest number of Americans. So don't speak for us.
What is being missed in all of this is the devastation to the legislative process. So from now on each time people don't like the laws that have been passed they work to stall everything? Nothing will get done. It is not the shutdown or even Obamacare that is the issue, rather how the legislative process is being destroyed that we should worry about. What is most interesting is Congress continues to collect their salary while Federal workers do not.

Recall all of the Republican Representives!! They are worthless.
by Larry10/2/2013 11:01:07 PM
@oomphengel He is listening to the people. The people reelected him knowing that the ACA would stay intact if he was the president. If anyone needs to listen to the people it is the congress who has an approval rating of 10%. They need to listen to the people and quit.
by He is listening to the...10/2/2013 11:01:26 PM
I wish House #GOP members would say what @secupp just said on @CNN Crossfire: "We don't want to give up our leverage." Then I'd have respect
Why are we not blaming all of Washington. Obama is to blame because as a "leader" he is suppose to sit down and get the 2 sides to come together. The Democrats because they won't relook at the affordable care act and redo the parts that are needed to be redone and the Republicans for using the shutdown to get their own way. But the ones to be blamed the most is ourselves as we reelect the same people over and over who don't care about us, they just like the gig they have and the perks that come with it. If only 10% of us like what Congress is doing, why are we allowing people to be there for 10,20, 30 or more years where they lose connection with main street. Maybe next time you should vote for someone else.
@oomphengel, I sincerely hope you are just trolling right now. Which amendment does the ACA "break?" I think the American people were heard loud and clear when they elected the guy who wanted to implement the ACA, and not the guy who promised to repeal it.
by really?10/2/2013 11:02:33 PM
The fact is that is incorrect 17 years ago folks did not get back pay and today they will not either.... secondly the GOP does not represent the people or else when the affordable health care act was originally placed before congress it WOULD NOT HAVE PASSED. Additionally it is rude to keep referring to it as obamacare it is rude and disrespectful. Finally, this ACA decreases the overall cost to the healthcare system and I say this as a health care professional who has worked in a ED and seen patients for conditions that can be treated in a primary care office but instead a few hundred dollars turn into thousands... now multiply that by the millions who are uninsured.... who's bills are being picked up by tax payers... consider all the facts.... read the bill and form your own opinion not the opinion of media outlets
by @17yrsagoandtoday10/2/2013 11:02:38 PM
@BarackObama stay with the #Obamacare don't make changes, don't let them back you into a corner.
How can you "negotiate" with someone who's clearly stated from day 1 that their sole objective is to go against everything you attempt to do and bring Obama down. And to wait until after the shutdown to finally "claim" that you want to come to the table? Their is no good faith in their claims that they want to negotiate and under these circumstances, I don't blame the dems for not wanting to at this point. to mention that Obama is a totally separate entity. Why not "negotiate" this a long time ago since it was so important but instead wait for the "eleventh hour". In the meantime all those Americans who have been furloghed are not getting paid as we speak, and yet they are. Talk about "fairness" and consideration for the American people, lol.
by turk3d10/2/2013 11:03:28 PM
The 23 million veterans want to know why they cannot be taken care of. Also the 8 million veterans that depend on their pay want to know when the can pay their bills.
by Ed10/2/2013 11:03:31 PM
@CrossfireCNN speakerBoehner, A leader or a Tea Party Puppet?
If President Bush had proposed the ACA....it would have passed easily.
by Educ8ed thinker10/2/2013 11:07:24 PM
I also find the critics about national health program have determined, even though this is only the second day of implementation that it is bad. Bad ideas prove to be bad once instituted. In 2014 if the national health care system is working, which I suspect it will be, with some modifications, I could run simply on the issue that the naysayers shut down the US on the rhetoric of a few rather than solving the needs of many, and easily win.
by Jim10/2/2013 11:07:27 PM
The republicans are scared to death the people will like the healthcare program and realize they have been lied to continuously by republicans
by Dakotaclay10/2/2013 11:07:30 PM
What Boehner is doing now is Letting those who need to cause enough Mischief to make their constituents happy. These are the same constituents who keep wanting to "Take the country back"... from a Re-elected President. (!)
They lost the original vote on on ACA, of Course and don't have the votes to repeal it now either. It was challenged in the UNSC as well and passed muster.
So What we have then is an Unprecedented and bizarre attempt to take the budget/country hostage on that basis: a passed Law. If the Democrats/Prez ever allowed a small minority to be able to change/overturn a law using these tactics, it would be the end of our democracy. Are other members on the Right willing to shut the country down over abortion or other traditional tough issues? No. This is Personal vendetta against a bill called 'Obamacare'. The official Moniker ACA, polls considerably better than the Prez Nickname. Most people who are polled, don't eve know what's in it, just it's called Obamacare. Six of One - Obamacare vs. The Affordable Care Act - YouTube
Yes, the wack jobs can do what they were elected to do, but that doesn't mean even Boehner should humor it. He is doing so for party unity and understanding their position. Allowing a Clean Resolution to fund the govt to come to the floor (Boehner Could Any time) would end the protest and show those who support it they are Not a majority and cannot change the law through these tactics. These flat-earthers must be made to understand Obama IS the President.. Again.
by unmarc10/2/2013 11:07:36 PM
Look enough of blaming someone! In my opion we the people are to blame. We elected the people who caused this. And the government forgot the principle of our "Government of the people, by the people, for the people." They need to remember they work for the people. And not for their own agendas or benefit. And if they keep this shutdown they Congress and Senate better not be getting paid just the federal employees whose checks were stopped. Let's just get a whole new congress and senate. All new officialls
by marqx10/2/2013 11:07:39 PM
It is interesting to note those who wish to delay/defund the ACA due to inequalities between those who govern and those governed are mum on whether it's ok for 800,000 to not work and not get paid, when they aren't, in effect, working yet getting paid.
So....you take people who can't afford healthcare.....and help them further by taking away their paycheck....nice!

This fight is absolutley not necessary and I am so angry I want to speak but really can not. I've worked on the ACA project for almost 3 years and I understand the many citizens do not want it. That has nothing to do with a 6 week budget and should not. These congressmen have voted, wrote the laws and provisions that we "federal workers" have worked night and day to implement for three years are sitting at home not getting paid while they "get paid" and argue over what has already been passed and passed and passed. MOVE ON...get this done and take the next three months to argue it or for that matter the next year to argue it or propose bills to change what will happen. No one will get charged a penalty until they do their 2015 taxes and that's only $95 dollars!!! Really...shut us all down for that right now? You can keep fighting your fight until that happens...To shut the government down is just plan rediculous!.
